Raigad Fort Trek Route

The trek to Rajgad fort starts from Pachad Village and is 5 kms long (return). A monsoon hike here is going to be mysterious as well as adventurous. The whole route ascends through approximately 1700 stairs. If you are going here during monsoons, you will see a couple of tiny waterfalls along the way. There are railings on one side and therefore the mountain on another. You’ll enter the fort either via Chitta Darwaja or the Nane Darwaja (which may be a smaller entrance). If you are planning to come by ropeway, you enter through the Mena Darwaja.

Once you are at the fort, you will see 5 water storage features and three temples. There are multiple other points of attraction on the fort which are directly linked to the local historic stories and folklore. Don’t miss Hirkani Point and Takmak point. Although Takmak point or Takmak Tok is famous for the rapelling events, its significance goes back to the age of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This is the location from where prisoners were executed by pushing them down the cliff.

Hiking up to Raigad is what you need if you are interested in history and are trying to find a beginner-friendly trek.
