Harishchandragad fort can be reached from two directions: North and South. The base village from the Northern side of the fort is Paachnai and the base village from Southern side is Khireshwar. Just search for these villages on the google map and you can get the respective route map from the Mumbai and Pune. Last 10 kms drive to Paachnai village is through the reserve forest and from there the trekking starts. However, Khireshwar is situated outside the wildlife sanctuary but drive to khireshwar is also scenic and the last part is along the Pimpalgaon Joga dam.

From Paachnai, the route to Harishchandragad fort trek is pretty straightforward. There is a proper trail from Paachnai to the fort. Trek distance from Paachnai is around 4 kms. Just search for “Paachnaichi vaat path” and you will get the trail from Paachnai village to Harishchandragad fort.
From Khireshwar, the route to Harishchandragad fort trek is also pretty straightforward. There is also a proper trail from Khireshwar village to Harishchandragad fort. Trek distance from Khireshwar village to the fort is around 7 kms that means this trail route will take longer time to trek. To search the trail from Khireshwar village, type “Khireshwar” in the from and “Harishchandra” on the ‘To’ fileld. For not to change to the “Walking option”. Else you can also type “Harishchandragad trek rte” in the google search and you will see the trek route.
Trek from Khireshwar village, offers a lot of scenic beauty. For example, you can see the origination of Kalu river. Tolar Khind on the way also offers a great view of the Konkan hills from there. However before you begin with the trek, make sure you have ample amount of water and other needed stuffs. Because the these villages are very small, expect not to find anything in village shops.
Camping on Harishchandragad fort trek:
There are two very big caves at the top. You can use those caves for the camping. You can also use tents for the same. Know what kind of tent you need on such trek. Harishchandragad fort trek is one of the most ideal trek for camping.
However, if you do not want to spend a night camping there and you are planning to return the same day, you can also drive to the Malshej Ghat MTDC resort near by. It’s just 10 kms from the Khireshwar village. From Paachnai side, there are no resorts or hotels near by.
If you do not want to drive back or you do not want to spend night at the peak, you can further trek to the hotel Kokankada. Hotel Kokankada is around 2-3 kms from the Harishchandragad for further. Search on Google for the “Hotel Kokankada” and you will see the trail to the hotel. Or you can also ask the trekkers there from different groups about the same.
