About Mandangad fort:

Mandangad fort is also known as ChitraDurga fort. This fort was captured by Shivaji in a battle with Adil Shah. There is also a 400 years old cannon at the fort which is the major tourist feature of the fort. Mandangad fort is far from civilization and is an ideal place for the riders or travels who want to drive a car or bike until there and relax at the top of the fort. Though this fort is not at high altitude, only around 900 feet, but it offers a spectacular view of the surrounding areas.
In the recent times, Mandangad fort is getting famous for camping and as a weekend gateway from Mumbai and Pune. If you want to camp at Mandangad fort, carry your own tents as there are no natural shelter. The best would be to drive until Harihareshwar beach from there and spend some time there. Harihareshwar is around 50 Kms from Mandangad fort.
