Tikona trek and Tikona fort travel guide from Pune & Mumbai

Tikona trek is around 50 Km Northwest of Pune and 130 Km Southeast of Mumbai. Tikona fort also known as Vitandgad fort is located south of Mumbai-Pune Expressway.  Because of its pyramid-like shape, this fort is called ‘Tikona’ fort. Tikona trek information is given below in full details:

Distance from Pune: 50 Kms
Distance from Mumbai: 130 Kms

Driving to Tikona trek base:

Just search on google maps for ‘Tikona hiking Trail, Maharashtra 412108′. The Google map will guide you a place from where the Tikona hiking trail begins.

TikonaPeth is the last village. There is also a restaurant there called ‘Tikona Upaharagruh’ where you can have breakfast before leaving for the Tikona trek. Once you reach TikonaPeth, you ask for the Mohol road or you can ask any villager about the Tikona fort trek route and they will be able to guide you from there. The hiking trail not more than one to two kilometer from TikonaPeth village. There is also a restaurant there called ‘Tikona Upaharagruh’ in the TikonaPeth village where you can buy water bottles and snacks. If you want to return the same day, you should start early.

There is no need of a guide, still if you want to take help from locals, you can take that. There is a parking spot just beside the road from where the Tikona trek begins.

Tikona trek fort camping:

Tikona fort top is not so ideal camping after the trek. Because the fort top is almost flat and it also gets windy in the night and there is no protection from the winds. If you are not carrying a tent, you can use the cave at the top.
