Joffre lakes are a series of three lakes situated in the Joffre lake provincial park near Pemberton in British Columbia. All the three lakes are glacier-fed lakes and carry a turquoise color due to rock flour at the bottom of the lake. All the lakes are connected by a waterfall which flows directly from the upper lake to the lower lake passing through the middle lake

Joffre lakes from Vancouver
Joffre lakes trailhead is around 180 Kms from Vancouver and it takes around 2.5 hours to reach there. I would suggest you start early in the morning on the weekends to avoid traffic on the sea to sky highway just outside Vancouver.
Joffre lakes parking
The parking lot gets full very early. There is another parking lot just 100 meters before the Joffre lakes parking lot. You can park your vehicle there. At Joffre lakes parking lot, there is a facility of a washroom.
Joffre lakes hike Trail
Joffre lakes hike is often called as a tough hike because around 80% of the elevation gain happens in between 1st Km to 2.5th Km. That means you cover around 1000 feet in 1.5 Km. The hike of the last 1.5 Km from the middle lake to the upper Joffre lake is the most beautiful and the easiest part of the hike.
In between the middle lake and the upper lake, you will also encounter the waterfall called Holloway falls. This waterfall almost follows you throughout the entire hike. The trail is well maintained.
Joffre lakes camping
Joffre lakes camping falls in the category of backcountry camping. At the campsite, there are 26 small gravel campsites. There is one pit toilet, and a bear-proof food storage unit for campers. Campfires are prohibited throughout the year. However, camping is allowed throughout the year.
In the winter, I would suggest camping near the Middle Joffre lake due to high avalanche risk. The campsites are available on a first come first served basis. Permits can be purchased up to two weeks prior to arrival. Here is the link to book a camping spot
