Vancouver Pride Parade Festival

Vancouver pride parade festival is an annual pride event for the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) people to celebrate and show their pride. It is one of the largest pride festivals in Western Canada.

Vancouver Pride Society

Vancouver pride society is responsible for organizing the Vancouver pride parade festival each year. It promotes self-awareness about the LGBT community and produces events to strengthen the sense of community, vibrancy and healthy environment for these communities.

VPS is a non-profit organization which relies on donations from participants and sponsors. All donations collected by the VPS go directly into producing future events, or to support community initiatives.

Vancouver Pride parade festival is an annual parade organized by the Vancouver Pride Society. It is one of the largest in North America. A lot of corporate companies support this too and sponsor it to show their participation in the welfare of the society.

Pride Parade festival timing

Though the pride parade festival starts at 12 in the noon, but I would suggest you go earlier. You can reach there by around 9 in the morning and see different parties doing final preparation for the parade. For the photographers who want to capture the essence of the pride parade, people doing makeup and getting ready for the parade, that would be the perfect time to do so on that day.

Each entry passes by and it takes around a total of 3 hours for the entries to pass by from a point. Different companies distribute different kinds of stuff to the crowd as well. Like Amazon was distributing cold drinks in the crowd because of the summer. Others were distributing hand fan, cap, toffee for kids etc.

If you want to book a slot, you should go and seat on the street side early morning so that you can watch the pride parade from the close. People start flocking from the early morning and the streets get filled up very soon. If you want to make sure that you have space better start early.

The pride parade begins at around 12 noon at Robson Street and Thurlow Street and ends at Sunset Beach Festival site. The parade starts walking from the starting point and all finally gather at the sunset beach festival. There will be a lot of entries with a contingent of approximately 150 entries, including cars, floats, music, bands, different dresses, and marching units. The pride parade begins with Dykes on Bikes style.

Final Pride festival at the sunset beach

The Sunset Beach Festival takes place on the Sunday of the August long weekend, concurrently with the Pride parade. Located at Sunset Beach at the end of the parade route, the festival includes a diverse collection of vendors, entertainment, family activities and beer gardens.
