Canada Day is observed as the national day of Canada. Every year, it is celebrated on July 1st.  it has been celebrated for more than a century & a half now. In 2018, Canada observed its 151st Canada day. This is a Countrywide event which brings different communities together to share the special bond of love for Canada.

Canada day in Vancouver, British Columbia

The different Canadian States celebrate the Canada day in different styles.  But mostly, it would be a mix of food, fun, and music. Since I was in Vancouver then, here is my experience of the Canada Day in Vancouver which is the capital of British Columbia Province of Canada.

On the Canada day, Vancouver features a lot of events near Canada place such as music performance, food stalls, fireworks etc. Until 2017,  the state used to host the Canada Day Parade but from 2018 it will no longer be hosted. Many of the events start in the morning and the crowd began to pour in throughout the entire day.

Fireworks in Canada day in Vancouver

Vancouver is famous for fireworks on Canada day. It starts at 10:30 PM to 10:50 PM. I would recommend going there as early as 8:30 PM. The crowd begins to pour in and all the front spaces get occupied. You can also buy tickets for the Canada day fireworks separately if you want an exclusive view. It costs around $15.

I did not buy the ticket because there are a lot of public spaces available from where you can get the view for free. However, if you love photography and you really want to make the moment special with someone, I would recommend you buy the tickets. Though I saved $15 by not buying the tickets I could not get many nice shots of the fireworks and video as well. That means I shall have to wait for another one year to find those perfect shot moments.

Here are some of the prime viewing locations for the fireworks:

  • Harbour Green Park
  • Coal Harbour seawall
  • Stanley Park seawall (facing Coal Harbour)
  • Crab Park
  • West Vancouver seawall (between Ambleside and Dundarave)
  • Vancouver Convention Centre West Building and Canada Place

But you should also note that there will be a lot of rush while returning. The city police organize different lines for different people heading to their homes by different transits.
