About Malhargad fort:

Malhargad fort is also known as Sonori Fort because of the name of the village at the base of the fort. Malhargad fort is named after the Goddess of Raga called Malhari. Like other forts in Maharashtra, Malhargad fort was also built by the Marathas around 1775. However, it was the last fort built by Marathas.
The main motive of building this fort was to keep a watch on Dive ghat along the Pune-Saswad route. Though the fort is in good condition, still its structures are not intact. Malhargad is mainly famous for spectacular views it offers from the top. One can also do a cycling ride to Malhargad from Pune.
