Best photography Places & shooting locations in Chennai

Here is a list of Photography location in Chennai based upon my experience of staying there for more than two years and traveling around. At most of these locations you will find a place less crowded to shoot the pictures:

  • Mahabalipuram, an hour drive from Chennai
  • Cholamandalam artist village along East Coast road
  • Dakshinchitra a heritage village along east coast road
  • St. Thomas Basilica, Adyar, a big church in Adyar
  • Ramakrishna Mutt, Mylapore
  • Isckon Temple on east coast road
  • Armenian church
  • Madras War Cemetary

Mahabalipuram or Mamallapuram shore temple

3. For temple photography in Chennai:

  • Thyagaraja Temple, Tiruvottiyur
  • Marundeeswarar temple, Thiruthuraipoondi
  • Shirdi sai baba temple, Mylapore
  • Parthasarathy temple, Triplicane
  • Kapaleeswarar temple

4. For shooting nature and greenery

  • IIT Madras campus
  • Semmozhi Poonga
  • Vandaloor zoo
  • Chetput lake

  • Vandalur Zoo – There is a big lake inside the zoo, migratory birds arrive there

  • Guindy zoo in Chennai.

  • St. Thomas Mount (Airport is visible from here)
  • Lighthouse local station or station just before or after (Nice city view)
  • Kathipara flyover
  • Koyembedu Market
