Here is a list of Photography location in Chennai based upon my experience of staying there for more than two years and traveling around. At most of these locations you will find a place less crowded to shoot the pictures:

  • Mahabalipuram, an hour drive from Chennai
  • Cholamandalam artist village along East Coast road
  • Dakshinchitra a heritage village along east coast road
  • St. Thomas Basilica, Adyar, a big church in Adtar
  • RamaKrishna Mutt, Mylapore
  • Isckon Temple on east coast road
  • Armenian church

Mahabalipuram or Mamallapuram shore temple

3. For temple photography in Chennai:

  • Thyagaraja Temple, Tiruvottiyur
  • Marundeeswarar temple, thiruthuraipoondi
  • Shirdi sai baba temple, mylapore
  • Parthasarathy temple, triplicane
  • Kapaleeswarar temple

  • IIT Madras campus

  • Vedanthangal Bird Sancturay – 90 kms from Chennai
  • Pulicat Bird Sancturay – About 100 kms from Chennai
  • Vandalur Zoo – There is a big lake inside the zoo, migratory birds arrive there
  • Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary
  • Guindy zoo in Chennai.
